The Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, has disclosed that eight suspects have been interrogated so far in the ongoing investigation into the National Service Authority (NSA) scandal.

On March 7, 2025, the former Deputy Executive Director of the NSA, Gifty Oware Mensah, was arrested by the National Investigations Bureau (NIB). She was later released on Saturday, March 8, after being questioned in connection with the ghost names scandal at the NSA.

Addressing a press conference at the Information Services Department Hall in Accra on Monday, March 24, 2025, Dr. Ayine provided an update on the case. He confirmed that eight suspects have been identified and assured the public that the investigation is expected to be completed by the middle of April.

“I can confirm that investigation will conclude in the National Service scandal by the middle of April for prosecution to begin. In the National Service scandal, eight suspects have been interrogated, and a good number of them have started singing, literally we will give you the details of their songs at the appropriate time,” he said.

He further revealed that the Attorney General’s office has evidence of payments made into the accounts of top NSA executives by private vendors and staff of the scheme.

Dr. Ayine also claimed that in November 2024, the CEO of the NSA and other officials allegedly paid a Ghanaian Member of Parliament to suppress the story in the media. He described this as a developing story, promising to provide further updates at the appropriate time.

“Indeed we now have evidence of payments that have were made into the accounts of the top executives of the National Service by private vendors and staff of the scheme. We also have evidence that in November 2024 the CEO of the National Service Scheme and others paid a Ghanaian MP to kill the story in the media, and to determine. Now this is a developing story and more will come soon,” he added.
