Government has officially dropped all criminal charges levelled against Ofosu Ampofo, the former National Chairman for the National Democratic Congress and communication officer of the party, Anthony Kwaku Boahen.

The case which begun in December 2019 is now closed after the Attorney General, Domnic Ayine made the announcement.

Ofosu Ampofo and Kwaku Boahen were on trial at the Accra High Court in connection with the leaked audio tape where Ofosu Ampofo was heard allegedly conspiring to provoke mayhem and cause damage in the country.

The conspiracy include kidnapping, arson, verbal assault against prominent people including chairman of the National Peace Council, Prof. Emmanuel Asante and chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Jean Mensah.

When they were charged with conspiracy to assault public officers, they pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The case has however been dismissed by the Government.
