A tragic accident has claimed the life of an okada rider at Tetegu on the Accra-Kasoa stretch, leaving the local community in mourning.
The rider, who was carrying a passenger, was reportedly struck by a commercial trotro bus in a devastating collision.
Eyewitnesses report that the trotro ran over the okada rider, crushing his head, causing his immediate death. The pillion rider, however, survived but sustained severe injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The driver of the trotro allegedly fled the scene after the incident, prompting outrage among onlookers.
Police have since transported the deceased’s body to the mortuary for preservation while investigations continue.
The okada rider, who operated his motorcycle business at Old Barrier on the Kasoa road, was well-known in the area. His sudden death has left fellow okada riders and the community in a state of shock and grief, with many attributing the tragedy to the recklessness of the hit-and-run driver.
