Okada riders have reportedly attacked staff of the Swedru Municipal Hospital in the Central Region over the demise of their colleague.

According to sources, one Okada rider met his untimely death after crashing with another Okada rider who was carrying a passenger from Agona K.T.K to Agona Kwanyarko.

An Assembly member for Agona Asafo I Electoral Area Ishmael Odoom revealed that the accident occurred on Friday night, February 7, 2025, around 10pm when there was a power outage in the area.

He said the victims were rushed to the Agona Swedru Municipal Hospital.

The Okada riders invaded the hospital and attacked doctors and nurses who were on duty after they learned that one of their colleagues had passed away because they believed their colleague died out of the negligence of the health workers.

They also vandalised some medical equipment at the hospital.

Ishmael Odoom stressed that some of the nurses were even chased out. Their phones and some computers at the facilities were also destroyed.

It took the intervention of the Agona Swedru police to restore calm at the facility and rescue the medical staff.
