Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has announced a review of curfew hours imposed on Nkwanta Township and its environs in the Nkwanta South Municipality of the Oti Region.
In a statement issued on Thursday, October 23, 2025, the new curfew hours will now be from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., effective immediately.
The decision, made on the advice of the Oti Regional Security Council (REGSEC) and by Executive Instrument, forms part of ongoing efforts to maintain law and order in the area.
The government has called on chiefs, opinion leaders, youth, and residents of the municipality to remain calm and use peaceful means to address any grievances. It further urged community members to channel their efforts toward promoting peace and unity.
Meanwhile, a total ban remains in force on the possession of arms, ammunition, and offensive weapons within the Nkwanta Township and surrounding communities.
The statement warned that anyone found carrying such weapons will be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
