In a bid to modernize its working environment, Ghana’s Parliament has replaced chairs in the Chamber as part of a broader refurbishment project aimed at improving efficiency and comfort for Members of Parliament (MPs).

The upgrade comes ahead of a planned recall of MPs, which has since been postponed until further notice.

According to parliamentary sources, the redesigned workstations are intended to promote digital operations, reduce dependence on paper-based systems, and cut costs associated with printing large volumes of documents for sittings.

The new setup also seeks to enhance MPs’ comfort during long sessions and improve access to real-time legislative information.

Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, who had earlier announced the recall for the Third Meeting of the Fourth Session, has yet to provide reasons for the deferment.

The refurbishment marks a step forward in Parliament’s efforts to embrace technology and create a modern legislative workspace, even as the date for the next sitting remains uncertain.
