The Minister for trade and industry and member of parliament for Adansi Asokwa, Kobina Tahir Hammond has hinted that the NPP Caucus in parliament will cite the speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin for contempt.

According to him, Alban Bagbin has disobeyed the supreme Court’s ruling to stay execution on declaring four seats vacant.

Speaking to the media after speaker Bagbin adjourned sitting indefinitely, the legislature stated that Alban Bagbin should have made sure the sitting arrangements in the chamber complied with the court’s directive.

He added that Ghanaians were looking forward to the Speaker’s compliance with the ruling of the supreme Court by reverting his earlier ruling.

“The behavior of the speaker is unconstitutional, he must give respect to the supreme Court. We will cite him for contempt because we do not want the decision of the supreme Court to be disrespected”.
