The Parliamentary Select Committee on Energy has taken a tour to the Akosombo and Kpong Generating Stations as part of its oversight responsibilities of energy facilities across the nation.
The technical tour at Ghana’s largest single hydropower generating station and it’s supporting station was announced in a statement by the Parliament of Ghana.
According to the statement, the committee chaired by Emmanuel Kwesi Bedzrah, embarked on this tour to access the stations’ operational efficiency and explore avenues to strengthen Ghana’s energy sufficiency.
Meanwhile, Bedzrah has expressed his stern opposition against electricity tarriff increments, noting that the “House will not approve any electricity tariff increment until power sector agencies demonstrate significant improvements in revenue collection and efficiency.”
