It was a day of high energy, sportsmanship, and unforgettable moments as the 2025 edition of the Global Media Alliance (GMA) CEO’s Cup took centre stage at the Ghana Gas Park on Friday, June 20,2025. What began as a friendly interbrand competition culminated in an electrifying final that saw PMI clinch the coveted CEO’s Cup with a commanding 3-1 victory over GMA.

The tournament brought together six spirited teams—PMI, GMA, Silverbird, Happy FM, YFM, and Sales—each determined to leave their mark on the pitch. With pride, bragging rights, and a generous prize on the line, the games were nothing short of intense.

This year’s champions, PMI, showcased dominance and coordination throughout the tournament. Their tactical brilliance and unwavering teamwork saw them soar past their opponents and into the finals, where they faced off against the host team, GMA. With swift passes, clinical finishes, and relentless defence, PMI triumphed with three goals to one, taking home not only the trophy but an additional cash prize of GHS 5,000.

The host team, GMA, fought fiercely throughout the tournament, displaying grit, passion, and unwavering determination. With strong teamwork and impressive play, they battled their way to the finals, determined to claim the title. However, their spirited performance was not enough to overcome the dominant PMI side. Despite the 3-1 loss in the final match, GMA walked away with their heads held high, securing the silver medal and an additional cash prize of GHS 3,000 for their valiant effort.

Defending champions Silverbird, who took the title in 2024, battled fiercely but had to settle for third place this time around. YFM followed closely in fourth, Sales claimed fifth, and Happy FM rounded out the standings in sixth position.

The tournament also included a thrilling women’s penalty shootout contest, where the YFM ladies emerged victorious, showcasing skill, and confidence in front of a cheering crowd.

Now in its fourth edition, the GMA CEO’s Cup continues to serve as more than just a football tournament. It is a celebration of unity, teamwork, and the competitive spirit that defines the Global Media Alliance brand. The event, first introduced in 2019, was initiated by the CEO, Mr. Ernest Boateng, as part of GMA’s commitment to employee wellness, collaboration, and inter-brand bonding.

In his closing remarks, Mr. Boateng commended all teams for their effort and sportsmanship. “Today wasn’t just about football; it was about connection, fun, and teamwork. These are the same values that fuel our daily operations across GMA’s brands,” he said. “Congratulations to PMI, and to all the teams that showed up with such passion. This is what the CEO’s Cup is about,” Mr. Boateng added.

Also present was Ms. Emma Wenani, Chief Director of GMA, who praised the organisers and lauded the event as “a refreshing reminder of the power of community within the corporate space.”

With a winning blend of competition, laughter, and camaraderie, the 2025 CEO’s Cup once again reinforced the company’s culture of unity, excellence, and shared celebration.
