The Ghana Police Service has arrested Newton Allotey, a prime suspect in the recent violence at Omanjor during the Homowo festival, which claimed three lives and left several others injured.
According to police sources, Allotey is believed to be a member of the armed gang that stormed the Omanjor chief’s palace. He had reportedly been hiding in Dansoman until his arrest.
Acting on intelligence, four tactical teams from the Special Support Unit launched a coordinated operation at Dansoman Last Stop around 1:00 a.m. on Monday, September 1, 2025.
During the operation, officers retrieved 18 spent BB cartridges, suspected to be linked to the Omanjor attack.
Police confirmed that Allotey is currently in custody and assisting with investigations. The Service has also appealed to the public to provide any information that could lead to the arrest of other suspects still at large.
