The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has arrested a man seen in a viral Facebook video violently assaulting a woman believed to be his wife at Ofankor in the Ga East Municipality.
The suspect, identified as John Odartey Lamptey, was picked up by Police on Monday, 17th November 2025, at the family residence where the incident occurred.
According to a police statement, two of Lamptey’s siblings, Grace Kusie Lamptey and Louis Odartey Lamptey, were also arrested after they allegedly attempted to attack a female tenant they suspected of recording and circulating the viral video. The tenant was rescued by police officers and taken to safety.
Meanwhile, police say they are working to locate the victim, who fled the scene before officers arrived.
The Ghana Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding victims of domestic abuse and ensuring that perpetrators face the full consequences of the law.
