The Ghana Police Service is currently investigating an alleged assault incident involving Alexander Afenyo-Markin and a police officer during the recent “Save the Judiciary” demonstration.
On May 7, 2025, the Member of Parliament reported to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) following a formal request to the Speaker of Parliament.
Authorities are looking into claims that Afenyo-Markin assaulted a police officer during the protest.
In an unexpected twist, the legislator has also lodged a counter-complaint, alleging that he was physically attacked by the same officer.
He claims the officer struck him on the chest, momentarily disorienting him as he led demonstrators to present their petition for judicial reforms.
The police have assured the public that both investigations are actively ongoing, and updates will be provided as new details emerge.
