
The Ghana Police Service has officially requested the presence of Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, to assist in investigations into an alleged assault on a police officer during a recent public demonstration.
In a statement posted on the Police Service’s official Facebook page, the law enforcement agency confirmed that it had reviewed several video recordings capturing moments from the event.
Among the footage was a clip alleged to show Afenyo-Markin involved in an altercation with a police officer.
Following the assessment, the Police Service wrote to the Speaker of Parliament, seeking the release of the MP for Effutu to support ongoing inquiries into the matter.
The officer involved in the incident is also expected to assist in the investigation, as authorities work to establish the facts surrounding the viral footage.
