Police Ladies’ dream of reaching the 2025 CAF Women’s Champions League was crushed on Tuesday after a 4-1 defeat to ASEC Mimosas in the WAFU B qualifiers.
At the Charles Konan Banny Stadium, the Ghanaian champions struggled against a dominant Ivorian side that booked their ticket to the final with a commanding performance. ASEC opened the scoring just before halftime, punished sloppy defending right after the restart, and never looked back.
Habibou Ouedraogo’s brilliant strike made it 3-0, before Sarah Nyarko gave Police Ladies a brief lifeline with her second goal of the tournament. But ASEC quickly hit back with a fourth to seal a resounding win and end Ghana’s hopes of continental qualification.
Police Ladies will now turn their attention to the third-place playoff on Friday, September 5, while ASEC advance to the final and secure a coveted spot in the CAF Women’s Champions League.
