The Public Affairs Unit of the Ghana Police Service in the Bono Region has announced the recovery of eight assorted weapons and the arrest of 24 suspects following a special intelligence-led operation in Sampa Township.
In a press statement issued and signed by Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, Public Relations Officer of the Bono Regional Police Command on March 21, 2026, the Unit outlined that the operation was conducted by the Bono Regional Police Command in collaboration with the 3rd Infantry Battalion (3BN) and the Bureau of National Intelligence (BNI) as part of efforts to rid the area of illegal weapons and criminal elements.
The exercise, carried out in the early hours of the day, led to the retrieval of five pump-action guns, one Baikal gun, two locally manufactured guns, and 790 rounds of AAA and BB cartridges.
Additional items seized included 21 machetes, four bayonets, five clubs, six knives, a quantity of talisman, as well as assorted military-style clothing and footwear.
Security personnel also recovered eight motorbikes, a rickshaw, several mobile phones, and an official stamp bearing the inscription “Nana Samgba Gyafla I President Sampa Traditional Council.”
The suspects arrested have been identified as Losina Ibrahim, Siaka Sirachi, Nketia Samuel, Wuli Kwabena Mensah, Daniel Damoah, Sie Mayr Alphonses, Musah Shakure, Akwasi Bio, Mensah Kofi Emmanuel, Sie Kwadwo Bright, Yunus Mohammed, Mohammed Watara, Abu Karim, Sereboma Latif, Sampson Kraa Yaw, Issifu Karim, Amadu Mahama Subo, Okra Marcus Akwasi, Sie Emmanuel, Amid Issah, Abu Amadu, Takyi Poku, Baba Yeboah Adams, and Sah Kwaku Ankamah.
Two of the suspects, Sie Emmanuel and Mensah Kofi Emmanuel, were arrested for breaching curfew regulations.
All suspects are currently in police custody assisting investigations, while steps are being taken to process them for court.
The Bono Regional Police Command has called on the public to support ongoing security efforts by volunteering credible information that could lead to the arrest of individuals in possession of illegal weapons.
