A policeman in line of duty lost his life today during a daylight bullion van heist at the Star Oil filling station located at Ablekuma FanMilk.
Eyewitnesses recount a terrifying ordeal on Happy 98.9 FM’s “Epa Hoa Daben” show as armed robbers descended on the scene, leaving a trail of devastation in their wake.
Residents initially mistook the sound of gunshots for the usual clamour of okada riders, prompting some to seek shelter. However, it soon became evident that this was no ordinary occurrence. The Star Oil filling station had become the target of a robbery.

The assailants swiftly launched their attack, focusing their attention on the policeman entrusted with guarding the bullion van. In a distressing turn of events, the officer was overpowered and disarmed. Moments later, gunshots rang through the air, as the attackers callously opened fire on the defenseless law enforcement official. Tragically, despite immediate medical attention, the officer succumbed to his injuries, leaving a void in the hearts of those who knew and served alongside him.

“The robbers attacked the policeman guarding the bullion van, took his gun and shot at him. The bullets can visibly be seen on the floor. The policeman was rushed to the hospital
and the sad news we got is that he lost his life” the eyewitness shared.
Bullet casings littered the ground, bearing witness to the life-threatening firefight that ensued.
“The District Commander and some police officers are currently at the scene making some demarcations to begin investigation” he added.
