Ghana Police has confirmed the arrest of Elizabeth Akosua Ntiriwaa better known as Akosua China, a key suspect in the tragic death of Nana Pooley, a die-hard Asante Kotoko supporter.

The Police announced the arrest in a statement released on Thursday, February 6, 2025, stating that she is currently in custody.

The arrest comes after an intensive police investigation into the violent incident that led to Pooley’s untimely demise. Authorities have yet to disclose full details of Akosua China’s involvement, but sources indicate that she is suspected of playing a direct role in the events that led to Pooley’s death.

The tragic incident, which occurred at Nana Koramansah Park, sent shockwaves across the Ghanaian football community, prompting calls for swift justice and enhanced security measures at match venues.

Following the announcement, Asante Kotoko SC and Accra Hearts of Oak reiterated their demand for stricter security measures in Ghana football. The two clubs recently submitted a joint position paper to the Ghana Football Association (GFA), urging reforms to prevent such tragic occurrences in the future.

The police have assured the public of a thorough and transparent investigation, promising that all individuals responsible for Pooley’s death will face justice.
