The Presidency has announced that donations toward the Children Support Fund set up to safeguard the welfare and education of the children of victims of the August 6 military helicopter crash has reached GHS 3,576,600.00 and US$20,000.00.
An update released by the Presidency, covering contributions received between 19th and 28th August 2025, highlighted support from corporate bodies, state institutions, and individuals across the country.
Major contributors include the Ghana Airport Company Limited, ARB Apex Bank, STL Foundation, Fidelity Bank, ADB Bank, GLICO General Insurance, and the National Insurance Commission, alongside several private donors including Kennedy Hedoe, Peter Adongo, Mensah Michael, Appaul Wiredu Lateef, Samuel Hodator, Dauda Iddi, who gave in personal solidarity with the bereaved families.
The Children Support Fund was established in the wake of the devastating crash in the Dampia Range Forest Reserve, which claimed the lives of eight senior government and military officials. Among the victims were Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah and Environment Minister Dr. Murtala Mohammed , whose passing shocked the nation.
According to the Presidency, the fund is designed to provide financial relief, educational support, and long-term welfare for the children left behind.
Expressing gratitude for the generosity shown so far, the Presidency urged more Ghanaians, institutions, and international partners to contribute, emphasizing that collective support is crucial to securing the future of the affected children.
