President John Mahama has named Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Manso Opuni as Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), effective Monday, July 14, 2025.
This announcement was shared via the FDA’s official Facebook page, highlighting Prof. Opuni’s previous role as Chairman of the FDA Board, and recognizing his deep expertise in public health regulation and governance.
He takes over from Dr. Delese Mimi Darko, who served as CEO since 2017 and now steps into a new continental role as Director-General of the Africa Medicines Agency (AMA).
The FDA expressed gratitude to Dr. Darko for her outstanding service and welcomed Prof. Opuni, expressing confidence in his leadership to strengthen the Authority’s mission: protecting public health and ensuring the quality, safety, and efficacy of regulated products across Ghana.
