Former Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Godfred Yeboah Dame, has fiercely criticized the ongoing attempt to suspend Chief Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Torkornoo, labeling it a politically motivated “charade.”
In open court on Tuesday, May 6, Dame argued in favor of an injunction to halt the process, insisting that the steps taken lack genuine legal merit and represent an abuse of constitutional procedures.
“All these processes to suspend the Chief Justice are nothing but a charade to remove her from office”.
Opposing counsel defended the suspension process, citing ongoing investigations into the Chief Justice’s conduct.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court dismissed Dame’s objection to Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie presiding over the case, ruling that his participation does not compromise judicial impartiality.
