The Vice Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has called on the Electoral Commission to maintain transparency and fairness in its engagements with all political parties to ensure peaceful elections.

She made this appeal during a courtesy visit to the chiefs and elders of Dadieso in the Suaman Constituency as part of her campaign tour in the Western North Region.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang emphasized Ghana’s reputation for peace and stability, stressing that the Electoral Commission has a responsibility to act impartially in all its dealings with political parties and other stakeholders to preserve the nation’s peace.

She also urged traditional and opinion leaders to safeguard Ghana’s peace by holding the Electoral Commission accountable whenever its actions threaten the integrity of the upcoming elections. “We have only one Ghana. I urge our traditional leaders to speak against any actions by the Electoral Commission that could undermine the credibility of the December 7 general elections,” she stated.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang also encouraged the chiefs and people of the Aowin Constituency to support NDC’s Presidential Candidate, Mr. John Dramani Mahama, by voting for him in the December elections.

She highlighted Mr. Mahama’s vision to reset the country and his plans to implement the “Big Push” and “24-Hour Economy” policies aimed at job creation. She also mentioned plans to establish a Women’s Development Bank to empower women financially.

The Kyidomhene of the Suaman Traditional Council, Nana Manah Kwabena III, praised the NDC for its contributions to the development of the Suaman area, noting that the party has demonstrated why Ghanaians should support its candidates in the upcoming general elections.
