The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Development Company, Professor Kobby Mensah, is calling on tourism experts and stakeholders within the tourism sector to empower the next generation. According Prof. Mensah, this, when done, will ensure sustained growth and innovation within the tourism sector of Ghana.
He is thus impressing on industry players with requisite experience and knowledge to open doors of opportunities for students and young professionals willing to contribute, through ideas and innovation, to the growth of the sector — saying this will inject fresh energy into the sector.
Professor Mensah has also called for inter-agency collaboration in the sector to help young persons with the desire to enter into the tourism sector. He has therefore called on the Ghana Tourism Authority form alliance with the Ghana Tourism Development Company to ramp up collaboration and lead bold initiatives that place youth at the heart of tourism development.
He says Ghana’s tourism sector holds massive potential — and now is the time for bold, innovative action.
Industry leaders are highlighting the country’s rich cultural heritage and breathtaking geological sites, and they’re pushing for a new wave of creativity to transform the sector.
According to Professor Mensah, stakeholders are demanding hands-on training, mentorship programs, and innovation hubs. Their goal? To inspire young people to see tourism not just as a job — but as a vibrant, purpose-driven career path.
