General Overseer of the Charismatic Evangelistic Ministry, Rev. Dr. Steve Mensah has thrown his full support behind Ghana’s forthcoming National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving, describing it as a bold and spiritually unifying step forward for the nation.
During a visit by the event’s planning committee led by Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, Dr. Mensah emphasized that the day should not only be celebrated but institutionalized within Ghana’s constitution.
“This must be sustained and even captured in the constitution,” he urged, reflecting the sentiment that national prayer and thanksgiving should transcend occasional observance and become a lasting symbol of collective faith and unity.
The initiative has started to attract wide backing among religious stakeholders, civil society groups, and political figures. Supporters believe it could offer the country a moment each year to reflect, give thanks, and strengthen its spiritual and national identity across faiths and communities.
The proposal marks a potentially historic moment in Ghana’s civic calendar, one that could position prayer and gratitude as core values embedded in the country’s legal and cultural framework.
