Run Ghana, the nation’s premier athletics event organizer, successfully held the fourth edition of its highly anticipated annual Bike & Run event on the first Saturday of July.
The 25-kilometer biathlon took place at the Silver Star Tower and continues to grow in popularity, drawing participation from across the country’s sporting community.
Designed to promote regular exercise and foster a culture of multi-discipline athletics, the event comprised a 20KM cycling race followed by a 5KM run.
The cycling route began at the Silver Star Tower, stretched to the Coca-Cola Roundabout on Spintex Road, and looped back to the starting point. Participants then transitioned into the running segment, which coursed through notable landmarks such as the 37 Military Hospital, Aviation Social Centre, and Mariot Hotel, before concluding back at the Silver Star Tower.
Salah Kweku Kalmoni, Executive Director of Silver Star Tower and Board Member of Run Ghana, addressed participants and spectators at the event. “Four years ago, we started this biathlon with just a few participants. Today, it has grown into a vibrant community of cycling and running enthusiasts. We are proud of the progress we’ve made in promoting active lifestyles and are excited about what lies ahead,” he said.
A notable highlight of this year’s event was the inclusion of a visually impaired runner and their guide—an inspiring addition that reflects the event’s growing inclusivity.
