Presidential Spokesperson and Minister in Charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu has announced an official pardon extended by the Presidency to the CEO of the Ghana Gold Board, Sammy Gyamfi.
Sammy Gyamfi has faced widespread criticism after being captured in a viral video handing dollar notes to Patricia Asiamah popularly known as Agradaa.
Recent news indicates that Sammy Gyamfi who was summoned to the Presidential palace by the Chief of Staff earlier this week, has been pardoned by President John Dramani Mahama. Kwakye Ofosu who disclosed this news during an engagement with the press, explained that the immediate public apology which followed amid the uproar was highly recognized by the Presidency. “The Chief of Staff having acknowledged the apology he made, he cautioned him and impressed upon him to take on board public sentiments and act in ways that reflect public expectations”
He reiterated the expectations of every state appointee by the people of Ghana and urged each of them to be cautious about their actions as government officials. “There may be things that are common place in our private lives but once you become a public official, you need to be sensitive to public expectations and therefore that ought to guide the way that you order your steps.”
“The Presidency does not believe that any further action has to be taken beyond the apology and the caution.” Ofosu noted.
