The 2018 edition of the Ghana Entertainment Awards USA was held over the weekend at the Schomburg Centre in Harlem, New York.
The awards night which happened to be the second annual occasion saw many top musicians, radio and TV personalities pick up awards.
Among the awardees was late dancehall act, Ebony Reigns who was known in real life as Priscilla Opoku Kwarteng. She picked the award for ‘Best Female Ghanaian Act’.
Some people names who were also on the awards list included TV personality Nana Aba Anamoah, Sarkodie and dancehall giants, Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy.
Some Ghanaian personalities and artistes who are also based abroad received some awards from the many categories.
Ebony Reigns received 3 awards at the 19th Edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards which was held at the Accra International Conference Center on April 14, 2018.
The awards she picked included the ‘Afro-Pop’ song of the Year’, ‘Album of the Year’ and the coveted ‘Artiste of the Year’ breaking 2 records of becoming the first female artiste to win the award and the first artiste to be awarded posthumously.
Ebony died in a gory accident on the Sunyani-Kumasi road while returning to Accra from Sunyani.
Her childhood friend and PA, Franky Kuri and one air force official, Francis Atsu Vondee, who posed as a bodyguard also died in the car crash.
She was buried at the Osu Cemetery after the final funeral rites were held in Accra at the forecourt of the State House.
