Nine regions have not received payment for third term arears – School feeding caterers counter Secretariat

A leader of the association of caterers under the Ghana School Feeding Progamme (GSFP) known as Auntie Araba, has called out the School Feeding Secretariat for lying to Ghanaians.

The Ghana School Feeding Progamme (GSFP) says caterers in nine regions have been paid their outstanding arrears for the third term of the 2021 academic year.

The regions include; Volta, Oti, Bono, Ahafo, Western North, Savannah, North East, Ashanti and Bono East.

According to the Head of Public Relations for the School Feeding Secretariat, Alfa Siiba, the payment started last week for caterers who had worked for the full 68 working days for the third term of the 2021 academic year.

Auntie Araba reacting to the statement in an interview with Don Kwabena Prah on Happy98.9FM’s ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ political talk show said, “We have not received a dime. No caterer in the 9 regions has been paid anything. We are hearing caterers in the 9 regions have been paid but only one person in the Volta Region has confirmed receiving payment on their e-zwich.

Those in the Western Region took a bus to the secretariat yesterday after it was claimed they had paid them.”

Lamenting the outstanding debt, she called on government to explain why they have refused to pay caterers their arears. “They owe us for the last 2 terms and they need to come and explain to us why we have not been paid. Better still they can just come out to tell us they have no money to pay us so we stop cooking for the programme. Some of our workers are even cursing us for refusing to pay them when we have not received anything from the secretariat,” she lamented.
