The Young Executive of SDA, a vibrant youth wing of the Seventh Day Adventist Church(SDA), is urgently calling on church leaders to initiate negotiations with the Electoral Commission to include them in the special voting arrangement ahead of the 2024 election.

This comes after the youth group recently presented a petition to the church leadership, seeking clarification on whether members should participate in voting on December 7, which coincides with the Sabbath Day. The church leadership responded, reaffirming their stance that Sabbath worship prohibits members from engaging in any activities outside of church functions, as it is a sacred day of rest and worship.

In an interview with Happy Kaseɛbɔ on Happy 98.9Fm, Young Executive of SDA Chairman, Isaac Baah expressed the youth’s appreciation for the leadership’s prompt response to their concerns. However, he emphasized that the youth are further appealing to the church leadership to take concrete steps to engage the Electoral Commission(EC) and secure special voting arrangements.

This would enable members of the church to exercise their fundamental civic right to vote without compromising their religious convictions. Baah stressed that the youth are eager to participate in the electoral process and have their voices heard, while also upholding the sacred principles of their faith.
