The Okere District Education Directorate has pledged its support for the growth of student entrepreneurship following the launch of the Studentpreneurship & Enterprise Development (SEED) Club at Adukrom Akuapem in the Eastern Region.

Speaking during the launch on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, on behalf of the Okere District Director of Education, Faustina Akorfa Akplu, the Public Relations Officer of the Directorate, Dora Addo, described the initiative as a timely intervention aimed at preparing students to become innovative problem-solvers and future job creators.

Addressing students and stakeholders at the event, Ms. Addo said Ghana’s education system must deliberately cultivate students who can learn while simultaneously building enterprises and creating opportunities for themselves and others.

“We stand at a defining moment in our continent and Ghana to be precise, where the classroom and the marketplace are no longer separate worlds,” she stated.

She emphasized that education should not only focus on certificates but also equip students with confidence, creativity, competence, and the ability to identify challenges within their communities and provide lasting solutions.

“The Ghana of tomorrow will not be saved by those who wait for opportunities. It will be shaped by those who create them,” she stressed.

Ms. Addo further charged teachers, school heads, and students within the district to adopt a new mindset that sees subjects such as Mathematics and Science as practical tools for entrepreneurship, innovation, budgeting, business planning, and invention.

She noted that schools must create environments where students are encouraged to ask questions, think critically, and explore possibilities beyond traditional classroom learning.

The Education Directorate also pledged to champion programmes, partnerships, and platforms that nurture the entrepreneurial spirit among students across the district.

Ms. Addo revealed that, building students who think like entrepreneurs would help create resilient communities, transform districts, and contribute to the development of a prosperous Ghana.

She urged members of the SEED Club to take the initiative seriously and ensure that every lesson, project, and club activity contributes meaningfully to their growth as future entrepreneurs and changemakers.

Meanwhile, students who participated in the launch expressed appreciation to the Basil David Anthony Foundation and its Founder and CEO, Basil David Anthony, for introducing the initiative, which they described as inspiring and beneficial to their future aspirations.
