Seven people have died following a road traffic collision involving a timber truck and a tricycle at Asikuma in the Bia West District of the Western North Region.
In a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Ghana National Fire Service in the Western North Region on Thursday, January 8, 2026, the accident occurred on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, and involved a timber truck with registration number AS 9304-17 and a tricycle.
According to the GNFS, a distress call was received at about 8:55 a.m., prompting an immediate response from the Debiso Fire Station.
A rescue team led by ASTNO Wonder arrived at the scene five minutes later, at 9:00 a.m.
Fire personnel took charge of scene safety, rescue coordination, and recovery operations, working closely with the Ghana Police Service and the National Ambulance Service.
Five of the victims were pronounced dead at the scene, while two others later died at the Essam Government Hospital.
The bodies of the deceased have since been handed over to the Police for autopsy and further investigations.
The cause of the crash is yet to be established as investigations continue.
