Kumawood actress Xandy Kamel in an interview on Happy has heap praises on Ghana’s self acclaimed dancehall king Shatta Wale for being featured on American singer, songwriter Beyonce the Lion King: The Gift album.

In the lead-up to the release of The Lion King: The Gift, a collection of music inspired by the 2019 reboot of the classic Disney film, Beyoncé remarked that the project was meant to be “a love letter to Africa”.

As executive producer, Beyonce made it a point to solicit contributions from artists spanning a number of the continent’s many culturally rich traditions and regions, including Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon, and South Africa.

Speaking with DJ Advicer on Happy FM’s ‘Ayekoo after drive show’ she said, “Shatta Wale is the smartest artiste in Africa and I will always say it. He is that artiste that can go on stage and stop a whole VGMA show and an international broadcast firm (BBC) will broadcast it live. what are we talking about, Shatta Wale is a smart guy and I will continue to adore him continuously .”

Xandy added that “how do Ghanaian musicians market, promote and expose their music to the world. Some musicians just hand over their songs to DJ ‘s and think that is the end of the road. Some of the musicians think the DJ will do the work of promoting their songs for them. The difference between them and Shatta Wale is that he promotes his music through live videos on all his social media handles even before he drops his new song.

“Shatta Wale has a cordial relationship with his fans and followers. With the cordial relationship Shatta has with his fans, it helps to push him continuously.”
