Assin Central Member of Parliament (MP), Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has asked flagbearer aspirants of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) crying over high filing fees to ‘shut up’ and ‘pay the money’.

According to him, the payment will show how prepared they are to be Presidents in the country.

To him, anyone willing to lead the country as President ought to have the ability to raise money and raising such an amount is a test of their fund raising abilities.

The maverick politician argued on Adom TV Tuesday as monitored by Happyghana.com that the people complaining are all ‘liars’ because they have the needed resource to pay the GHC 420,000 themselves even without the support of others.

“All of them are liars, Kojo Bonsu, Bagbin, Sylvestre Mensah are allsayin they can’t pay? They should pay, it should show that they can pay be President…,” he charged.

Eight presidential hopefuls of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have formed a rare alliance to demand the reduction of filing fees from GH¢420,000 to GH¢100,000.

The gang of eight is also demanding that the cost of forms be pegged at GH¢5,000.

The common petition that has been signed the seven aspirants and addressed to the opposition party’s National Council of Elders that among other reliefs wants a reduction in the filing and nomination fees.

Alban Bagbin, Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, Sylvester Mensah, Stephen Atubiga, Nurudeen Iddrisu, Goosie Tanoh, Kojo Bonsu and Elikplim Agbemava want the nomination fees, or fees for collection of forms, to be pegged at GH¢ 5,000 and filing fees reduced to GH¢100,000.
