Electricity supply to parts of six regions across the country will be cut off for 12 hours Friday as part of an on-going load shedding management by the Power Distribution Services (PDS) Ghana Limited.

A timetable issued Friday morning by PDS listed the Ashanti, Greater Accra (including Tema), Central, Volta (including Oti), Western (including Western North) and Eastern regions as the affected areas.

Per the timetable, a number of towns and areas within the affected regions are will have their electricity supply cut off from 6:00am to 6:00pm Friday, April 5.

Notwithstanding the timetable, areas which will be enjoying electricity supply “may experience outages” while those who have been scheduled to go off, “may have their supply restored”.

It explained such situation may occur because “generation deficit varies”, and for which reason “PDS may review the outages” based on supply from their upstream.

Meanwhile, almost all parts of Accra and Tema are expected to go off as the areas.

The release of the timetable comes on the back of a directive by the Public Utilities and Regulatory Commission (PURC).

Following public outcry and demand for a timetable on the recent power outages in parts of the country, the PURC convened a meeting Thursday at which it directed PDS to release timetable indicating which areas will go off at what time.
