Solve the problem of lack of textbooks, not past questions – Minority to Gov’t

Member of Parliament (MP) for Sene East Constituency in the Brong Ahafo Region and member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Hon.Dominic Napare has said that the Government is wasting its time and resources on providing past questions rather than providing text books to schools that lack them.

He was speaking in a phone interview with Happy FM’s Kwame Afrifa Mensah on the “Epa Hoa Daben” show.

“No one has complained of not having access to past questions. However, schools complain about not having text books. Therefore, why is Government trying to solve a non-existent problem”, he said.

According to him, the only explanation for Government’s provision of past questions is because Government lacks confidence in the children’s ability to pass their exams as beneficiaries of the free SHS programme.

“The double track system prevents the children from learning. Why have we waited till the era of free SHS to implement this? Does this mean that the Government believes that students will fail?” he questioned.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) procured 400,000 set of past questions as a guide for the first batch of the Free Senior High School (SHS) Policy beneficiaries. This, they say is needful for the success of students in their examinations scheduled for April,2020.
