Xenophobic Attacks: Ghanaian embassy in SA has neglected us
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on Whatsapp

A wave of ongoing xenophobic attacks has seen South Africa in the news for the wrong reasons.

Many foreign nationals living in South Africa ,particularly from African countries such as Nigeria, Zambia and Ghana have witnessed the gruesome effects of attacks.

It is often said that to determine the balance between two objects on a beam, the beam must remain horizontal when equal weights are placed on the two pans,

Clearly, xenophobia attacks and showbiz in South Africa has not made equal weights. With news of celebrities and organizations pulling out of shows, we can safely conclude that the former has proved heavier than the latter- Entertainment promotion in South Africa has become light weight.

We can recall that the popular Nigerian Musician, Tiwa Savage cancelled her show which was set to happen on the 21st of September,2019 in South Africa.

Not too long after, organizers of the Ghana Music Awards,South Africa also cancelled their event .

Speaking on the issue of xenophia in South Africa on the Showbiz Xtra show on Happy FM, the Director of Creative Arts at the National Commission on Culture (NCC), Mr.Socrate Safo said: ”The program has been cancelled because of the safety of visitors coming for the program.”

The question then arises: Has Xenophobia taken its toll on South Africa’s development in Entertainment?.
When the dust settles, we will know.

Say no to Xenophobia!
