Stop disrespecting the VGMA board – Bulldog warns

Organizers of Ghana’s music, Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) Charter House have been heavily lashed on social media in the wake of the awards event after Fancy Gadam’s ‘Total Cheat’ defeated Patapaa’s ‘One Corner’ hit track to the ‘Most Popular Song of the Year’ gong.
However, during an interview with Dr Cann on Happy FM’s Showbiz Xtra, controversial artiste manager and CEO of BullHaus Entertainment, Lawrence Nana Asiamah, popularly known in the music industry as Bulldog, has called on Ghanaians to accord the organizers of the event some level of respect.
“Stop disrespecting the VGMA board. Over the years, VGMA has been very good and it is something we cherish. If not for this Awards we wouldn’t know what to do,” Bulldog told Happy FM.
Explaining further, Bulldog said, “By next year, the people who sit on the board will be celebrating twenty years of VGMA. So this indicates that it has travelled far and there are emotions involved so we must understand them.
The talent manager also disclosed that, one can speak against the VGMA board but to disrespect them is not healthy.
Advising the VGMA board, Bulldog said, “If people suffer to do music and today something negative go against them, the next time something else, it does not help. The VGMA board have to do their things well.”
Lastly, Bulldog joined the masses in believing that Patapaa deserved to clinch the “Vodafone Song Of The Year” award ahead of Fancy Gadam.
“It is not fair, Patapaa should have won the song of the year award, and nobody can sit down and say the song was not popular. The song went viral and was all over.”
Organizers of the Awards and renowned auditing firm, KPMG who are responsible for the collation of the results were pressured by the criticisms from the public to release the results. Instead of calming nerves it rather touched nerves.
‘One Corner’ by Patapaa garnered – 18.14% while Fancy Gadam’s ‘Total Cheat’ got – 28.12%.
