Former deputy Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson has appealed to President Akufo-Addo to restrain Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia from commenting on the economy since his utterances are inimical to the performance of the local currency – Cedi.

According to him, the Cedi plunged immediately after Dr. Bawumia delivered a public lecture on the performance of the economy at Wednesday’s Town Hall meeting held by the Economic Management team of the country.

Speaking at a counter lecture by the opposition party on the performance of the economy, the Ajumako-Enyan-Esiam MP sad the Vice President has been lying with his economic data.

“I will urge the President to restrain his Vice President because anytime he speaks the currency moves”.

He stressed   Dr. Bawumia toyed  with numbers and presented lies as facts during his presentation.

“You heard him talk about the likes of the judiciary and the court systems. What has that got to do with the economic management team? He had nothing to say. He was just playing with numbers. And again, you know him and his credentials of lying with numbers. You could see lies”.

On Wednesday, Dr. Bawumia noted the NPP is better at managing the economy than the NDC.

“Our worst is better than your best and you say ‘boot for boot’? This one is more like boot for chalewate”.

He  challenged the NDC to provide data to prove the economy is on a nosedive. He said the economy is on a sound footing with credible data available to support that claim.

“These are based on credible data and let anyone who disagrees bring his data,” Bawumia served notice in his presentation dubbed: “Our progress, Our status, Our future.”

According to him, statistics available indicate the economy is performing better than previous governments.
