The Member of Parliament (MP) representing Tarkwa-Nsuaem in the Western Region, George Mireku Duker, has voiced his apprehension regarding Gold Fields’ decision to terminate its sponsorship of the Medeama Sporting Club.

In a heartfelt appeal, the MP, a staunch supporter of the Ghana Premier League Champions, has implored the leadership of the mining conglomerate to continue their sponsorship of the club. He emphasized, “Gold Fields Ghana must reconsider their decision to discontinue sponsorship for Medeama. It is their duty to support Medeama, and as the MP, I earnestly request them to retract the letter they sent to the club. We will engage with their leadership in South Africa to emphasize the importance of sponsoring Medeama,” stated the Tarkwa-Nsuaem MP during a press conference.

Thanks to Gold Fields’ sponsorship, Medeama SC has grown into a formidable football entity over the years. Just last year, the club celebrated their first-ever Ghana Premier League title victory. This past weekend, Medeama SC achieved a significant milestone by reaching the group stage of the CAF Champions League, marking the first time a club has accomplished this feat in over a decade.
