The Eastern Regional capital came alive over the weekend as thousands of music fans thronged the Koforidua Youth Resource Centre Stadium for the 2026 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs) Xperience Concert.

The annual regional music show, part of activities leading to the finale of the 27th TGMAs, delivered a high-energy night of back-to-back performances from some of the country’s biggest headline acts including Stonebwoy, Wendy Shay, Medikal, Lasmid, Piesie Esther and nominees from the Unsung category of the awards scheme.

Stonebwoy set the stage ablaze with his commanding musical energy while Medikal thrilled fans with hit after hit. Wendy Shay and Esther brought their unique vocal power and audience engagement power to the stage, as Lasmid added to the vibrant and diverse showcase with his signature hit songs.

The free concert captured the pulse of a music industry that continues to evolve in sound, reach and cultural relevance, reinforcing Telecel’s long-standing commitment to the growth of Ghana’s creative arts industry.

“Music is a powerful passion point for connecting people and telling our stories. For over a decade, we have supported the TGMA because we believe in the talent, creativity and cultural power of Ghanaian music, and our goal is to help elevate it both locally and globally,” said Aneth Muga, Director of Consumer Business at Telecel Ghana.

Beyond the stage, Telecel’s presence in Koforidua reflected a broader commitment to community engagement. Ahead of the concert, a delegation from the telco paid courtesy calls on the Paramount Chief of New Juaben, Daasebre Kwaku Boateng III, Ogyeahoho Tete Pimpon II, Adwesohene and Mponoahene and the Eastern Regional Minister, Mrs. Rita Awatey, reaffirming partnerships with traditional and regional leadership.

Hours before the Xperience Festival, attention turned to the next generation as the TGMA in Schools initiative made a stop at Pope John Senior High School in Koforidua. Students interacted with Stonebwoy in conversations around music, creativity and career pathways, with the aim of encouraging young people to develop their talents and see a future within the creative arts.

The TGMA Experience Concert in Koforidua forms part of a broader series of activities building up to the final awards night in Accra on Saturday, 9th May, including fan engagement campaigns and digital voting initiatives that allow audiences to support their favourite artistes.
Through these fan engagement efforts, Telecel Ghana continues to bridge access between artistes and audiences with the use of technology to deepen participation in the awards process.
