Telecel Ghana has launched this year’s Business Runway under its SME Month initiative, bringing together university students and young entrepreneurs in Accra to sharpen their skills for navigating Ghana’s business environment.

The event, held at the Labadi Beach Hotel on Friday, September 26, 2025, featured keynote speeches, panel discussions, and mentorship sessions designed to inspire and prepare the next generation of entrepreneurs.

Opening the programme, CEO of Telecel Ghana, Ing. Patricia Obo-Nai, said the company remains committed to driving innovation while supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). She urged young people to build resilience and adaptability as they pursue opportunities in the evolving global economy.

Abdul Mohammed of the National Youth Authority, who delivered the keynote address, highlighted the need for reforms in Ghana’s education system to promote entrepreneurship, the development of soft skills among the youth, and greater investment in SME ventures. He described youth-led businesses as critical to Ghana’s economic transformation.

Entrepreneurs such as Baaba Ankrah, founder of Goba Kente, and Jonathan Koffie, co-founder of Free The Youth, shared their experiences on building sustainable enterprises. Ankrah emphasised courage, training, and strong systems, while Koffie encouraged African entrepreneurs to prioritise ownership and infrastructure.

The programme also featured two panel discussions. The first, themed “Securing the Bag: The Smart Money Playbook,” focused on financial literacy and access to capital, with experts from Absa Bank, JTE Business Consult, and Innohub. The second explored digital branding and content creation, led by Sam Rogers and Kojo Junior, who stressed the importance of storytelling and online presence in scaling businesses.

The day concluded with interactive Q&A sessions, networking, a vendor exhibition, and a surprise musical performance by Joey B.
