The Teachers and Educational Workers’ Union (TEWU) of the Trades Union Congress (TUC) has announced an industrial action effective Friday, September 19, 2025, citing delays in finalizing and signing Conditions of Service agreements.

The strike will affect members in Technical and Public Universities, the Ghana Library Authority, and the Ghana Museums and Monuments Board (GMMB).

In a statement signed by General Secretary King James Azortibah, TEWU said repeated engagements and follow-ups with management and relevant authorities have yielded no results, leaving members frustrated.

“The prolonged inaction has severely impacted our members’ welfare and morale. We have outlived our patience and can no longer contain the growing pressure from our rank and file,” the statement read.

TEWU stressed that the continued postponement of negotiations is unacceptable, leaving them with no option but to take industrial action to compel authorities to expedite the process.
