President-elect John Dramani Mahama has dismissed Finance Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam’s claims that the NPP is set to hand over a resilient economy to the incoming Mahama administration.

According to him, the economy has collapsed, especially the energy sector, which needs urgent attention to work.

Speaking during the Canadian High Commission in Ghana’s visit to his office on Thursday December 19, 2024, Mr. Mahama mentioned that, the country owes 2.5 billion, which Ghanaians need to know about it.

‘’The energy sector needs urgent surgery otherwise it can collapse everything, and so when the Minister of Finance says the economy is turning, you have a 2.5 billion debt and your bail out is only 3 billion and so 2-5 billion debt sitting and breathing and you say the economy is turning around, that alone can crash everything that has been done’’.

He added, ‘’They want to create a more upbeat story about their economic management before they leave office, but like I said we are going to open the books and let Ghanaians know true situations. If Ghanaians understand the true situation then they will understand some of the measures we have to take to bring things to normal’’.
