The New Force, a political movement has issued a formal public apology following an incident involving one of its security personnel physically assaulting a supporter.
The event, which was captured on video and widely shared on social media, showed the supporter merely attempting to speak with the party’s presidential candidate.
In a statement signed by Charles Yomekpe, General Secretary of The New Force, the movement described the incident as deeply saddening and disturbing. The statement indicated that the individual who was assaulted was unarmed, posed no threat, and was entitled to dignity and respect.
The party expressed its sincerest apologies to the victim, their family, and all Ghanaians who, according to the statement, rightly expect higher standards of conduct from those associated with the movement.
It emphasized that no individual, supporter or otherwise should ever be subjected to violence, particularly in a democratic setting where freedom of expression and engagement must be protected.
The New Force also stated that it strongly condemned the behavior, labeling it as unacceptable, unjustifiable, and entirely contrary to the values the movement upholds.
The statement confirmed that an immediate investigation had been launched and assured the public that the individual responsible would face full accountability under the law and the movement’s internal disciplinary procedures.
The party reiterated its commitment to restoring public confidence by taking measures to ensure such behavior is never repeated.
It also thanked the public for bringing the matter to attention and for holding the movement to high standards.
