Akua Afriyie, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for the Ablekuma North Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, has kicked against any attempt for a re-run by the Electoral Commission.

According to Akua Afriyie, she won the elections and is waiting on the Electoral Commission to proclaim her as the Member of Parliament elect for Ablekuma North and will not entertain any news about a re-run

Akua Afriyie who on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, joined Members of Parliament from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to stage a protest, marching from Parliament House to the Ghana Police Service Headquarters in Accra said she has all her pink sheets to show that she was the winner of the 2024 Parliamentary elections in Ablekuma North.

“There will be no rerun, I won the election fair and square so the EC should do the needful. They collated the results five times and they all showed that I was the winner.”

“I have all my pink sheets to show that I won the elections so I don’t think anyone in my shoes will agree to a re-run,” Akua Afriyie said.

Ablekuma North was among a few constituencies whose results were not finalized after the last general election.

The Electoral Commission (EC) has cited a lack of adequate security as the main reason for the delay in concluding the collation, a claim that has frustrated opposition MPs.
