Thomas Partey leads top scorers chart in Africa World Cup campaign

Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey is leading the goal king race for the CAF qualifying section to the 2018 FIFA World Cup with only two more games to go.
Despite Ghana’s underwhelming qualifying campaign, the Atletico Madrid versatile midfielder has been the shinning light for the four-time Africa champions.
Ghana’s hopes of booking their place in next year’s is in limbo after dropping valuable points at home against Uganda and Congo, however, the African giants can take solace in Partey’s sleek form and leadership skills in a team full of budding players.
The former Tema Youth youth product had never found the back of the net for the Black Stars before the double header against the Red Devils of Congo.
The 24-year-old rescued a point for the Black Stars last Friday with a sublime strike in the 1-1 draw against the Red Devils, when the Central Africans looked to be running away with a famous victory.
Partey kept up his razor sharp form in the return encounter in Brazzaville with an impressive hat-trick as the Black Stars white-washed Congo 5-1 to revive their slim hopes of qualifying to a fourth-successive World Cup finals.
The versatile enforcer’s hat-trick took his tally in the qualifiers to four goals, one more than Mohammed Salah, who scored the lone goal for Egypt in Tuesday’s win over Uganda and Nigeria’s Victor Moses.
Partey could become the first Black Stars player to win the accolade should he continue his scoring form in Ghana’s two remaining games in the qualifiers against Uganda and Egypt.
