Chiefs of Okyereko, Adawukwa and Mampong together with chief priest of Okyereko, “Okomfo” Aya have poured libation to river gods to pacify them over the Okyereko flooding.

According to Okomfo Aya, every natural river has a spirit that dwells within it and God created their own way for them to flow without any obstacle.

Speaking to Happyghana.com, she revealed that the flooding in Okyereko and it’s neighbouring communities are facing is as a result of diverting the river’s flow without seeking permission from the river gods as custom and traditions demand.

“Even though they are doing the best thing to improve the nature of the road but the contractors should have sought permission before diverting.

That is the reason why the river god got angry, submerging over 150 buildings at Okyereko and it’s environs, she noted.

“So we came here to pacify the gods to forgive and spare us from the havoc caused and lucky enough the prayers have been answered”.

Now the road is clear for vehicles to ply and the level of the water has come down to allow the contractors continue their work without facing any challenge.
