Government has inaugurated a 10- member task force to oversee the establishment of a new national airline, marking a renewed effort to position the country as a key aviation hub in West Africa.

The move, according to the Minister, is part of a broader restructuring plan to revitalize the aviation sector.

speaking at the inauguration, Transport Minister Joseph Bukari Nikpe, emphasized the need for Ghana to capitalize on its existing airport infrastructure and strategic location to compete in the global aviation industry.

“We have facilities at our national airport, and other airlines are taking advantage of them. It is only proper that we, as a people, benefit from these opportunities. Our vision is to make Ghana a transportation hub, whether in aviation, maritime, or by road. This airline will play a crucial role in connecting the sub-region and the world.”

The task force, chaired by Charles Asare, former Managing Director of the Ghana Airports Company Limited, has been mandated to develop a viable business model for the airline and ensure its successful implementation.

Mr. Asare expressed confidence in the expertise of the task force, promising a dedicated effort to realize the government’s vision.

“The task ahead is clear, and we are committed to delivering this dream. We have the right skills and experience to build an airline that serves the interests of Ghanaians and positions our country competitively in the global aviation industry.”
