Two members of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Shamsudeen Iddrisu and Kwadwo Boateng, have filed an application at the High Court in Accra seeking an interlocutory injunction to stop the party’s Extra Ordinary National Delegates Conference scheduled for July 18–20, 2025 at the University of Ghana Stadium.
The applicants argue that the planned conference violates the party’s constitution, which mandates a specific sequence of constituency, regional, and national conferences.
In his affidavit, Kwadwo Boateng, a card-bearing member from the Bantama Constituency, cited constitutional provisions requiring constituency and regional conferences to precede the national gathering by at least four weeks.
The application urges the court to restrain the NPP from proceeding with the event until the suit is fully determined, emphasizing adherence to internal party procedures.
