Ghana’s national U17 team commenced the 2023 UEFA U-16 Development Tournament with a massive 4-0 win over the host nation Serbia on Thursday afternoon.

Ghana exercised their attacking muscles in the first half to register four goals against Serbia in the opening game of the tournament staged for players below the age of 16.

Coach Karim Zito’s side started the game with an intense pressure on the Serbians to concede in the early minutes when a spot-kick awarded to the West African nation was converted by hat-trick hero Benjamin Tsivanyo.

Tsivanyo opened the floodgate after brilliantly slotting the penalty firmly into the back of the net to hand Ghana the lead on the 3rd minute.

The Black Starlets continued their impressive performance to dominate majority of the game when Ramsey Asumadu delivered a beautiful pass to Benjamin Tsivanyo to grab a hat-trick before the half-hour mark.

Ghana completed their demolition exercise on the stroke of halftime when Yiriyon Yaw Gideon also registered his name on the score sheet with a stunning free-kick.

The second half of the game looked very balanced as both sides were determined to find the back of the net especially the Serbians, ending in a 4-0 win for the Black Starlets of Ghana.

Other countries participating in the competition are Switzerland and Spain.

Ghana will return to action on Saturday, April 15 against Spain. The game is scheduled to kickoff at 12:30 GMT
