The Ankobeahene of Diaso, Nana Kobina Ayem II, along with residents of the Upper Denkyira West District, have strongly refuted allegations that their newly appointed District Chief Executive (DCE), Isaac Nsiah, is involved in illegal mining (galamsey) activities.
In recent media reports and social media discussions, accusations surfaced suggesting that galamsey operations were taking place in the heart of Diaso township, allegedly under the DCE’s watch.
However, residents have dismissed these claims as baseless and misleading.
According to Nana Kobina Ayem II, the area in question is not an illegal mining site but rather a reclaimed land intended for use as a transportation hub by the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU).
He emphasized that Mr. Nsiah has never engaged in or supported galamsey activities, either in his personal life or during his tenure as DCE.
The residents have called on President John Dramani Mahama and the general public to disregard any publications attempting to link Mr. Nsiah and the Constituency Chairman to illegal mining. They believe these allegations are part of a deliberate campaign to tarnish the reputation of their district leader.
Isaac Nsiah reaffirmed his commitment to clean governance and stated unequivocally that he is not involved in galamsey.
